Gianni Riotta is a journalist, writer, and professor at Princeton University (in the French and Italian Department) and the Director of the Data lab at LUISS Guido University School of Government, Rome. He is Executive Vice Chairman at the Council for the USA and Italy. As a columnist he currently writes for La Stampa and The Atlantic; he was also editor of TG1 RAI and Il Sole 24 ore. He served as deputy editor for La Stampa and Il Corriere della Sera, and as a U.S correspondent and columnist for Il Corriere della Sera and L’Espresso; to this day he also collaborates with The BBC World Service. His columns have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Financial Times, Le Monde, El Pais, and Süddeutschen Zeitung. His books have been translated into various languages and have received numerous awards. Foreign Policy magazine and Prospect magazine included him in their ranking of “100 Global Thinkers.” He is a philosophy graduate from the University of Palermo, and he has an MS from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism; he was awarded an honoris causa degree in Archivistica dell'Archivio di Stato, in recognition of his work to protect Italian cultural heritage. Recently he started and presented the talk show “47-35 Parallelo Italia” on RAI 3. A permanent member of the Council on Foreign Relations, he divides his time between Rome and New York.■
